Last year brought numerous challenges to Prince Township, among them staff changes at the municipal office, a midsummer flood that damaged the community hall and township roads, and high costs for materials that persisted in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But Nathan Dool, the township’s auditor from BDO in Sault Ste. Marie, found several positive signs in the consolidated financial statements for 2024.

Speaking at the Oct. 14 council meeting, Dool highlighted the rise in taxation from new residential growth.

“There’s a lot of houses that get built in Prince Township, and with that comes additional assessment and tax revenues. 2024 was no exception” Dool told council.

There was $25,000 in supplemental billing, meaning tax revenue that wasn’t budgeted for.
