After the death of a 2-month-old girl with broken ribs and internal bleeding from a severed spine, the child's father has turned himself in.

Taylor Broussard, who was wanted in connection with this case, turned himself into authorities on charges of first-degree murder, cruelty to juveniles and second degree battery. Broussard has been booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail.

The child’s mother, Kaylee Fontenot, was taken into custody last week and booked on the same charges.

The 2-month-old died Oct. 25 in Opelousas after officers responded to a medical emergency call and found her not breathing. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital. After an autopsy, investigators say the baby had signs of "severe neglect and physical abuse," including extreme dehydration and malnourishment
