Residents are concerned about a loss of amenity for the children in their neighbourhood if a council proposal to dispose of land on their street goes ahead.
At its past two meetings, the Burnie City Council unanimously passed proposals to begin the process to sell the three titles of Brickport Reserve on Brickport Road, Burnie.
Residents of Lorrie Place, from which the reserve can be accessed, said they regularly used the land, with kids flocking to the open space of an afternoon and during school holidays.
One said there were 15 to 20 children under the age of 10 living in the immediate vicinity.
Lisa Robinson has lived in the area for the past decade and emphasised the importance of green spaces for both mental and physical health.
