BEMIDJI — Bemidji Middle School kicked off the month of November in observant fashion as it hosted a smattering of activities in honor of Native American Heritage Month on Saturday.
Planned by Bemidji Area Schools’ American Indian Education Department, the event brought together community members with a goal to raise cultural awareness and appreciation.
“We want the community to be aware of American Indian history, American Indian culture so that they understand who we are and what we have to offer,” American Indian Education Coordinator Sonia Wadena said, “not only as people, but what we have to offer within our school district.”
