LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule provided an update on Monday on sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola’s condition after he suffered a season-ending injury during the USC game on Saturday.
Raiola went down midway through the third quarter on a passing play. He was sacked and fumbled the ball when a USC defender brought him to the ground from behind.
Rhule said Raiola suffered a broken fibula and will need to have surgery this week. The recovery period could last around eight to 10 weeks.
Raiola will be replaced by freshman TJ Lateef. Lateef is Nebraska University’s No. 2 quarterback, as a true freshman. Lateef made his Husker debut against Akron.
Nebraska’s next game is another prime time slot against UCLA on Saturday, November 8. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
