DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) - Gov. Ivey is awarding over $2 million to HudsonAlpha for agricultural and forestry projects, and the Wiregrass is getting their piece of the pie.
HudsonAlpha's TRIALS program, which is led by the HudsonAlpha in the Wiregrass, is receiving $309,576 for their 2-year pilot program.
The program aims to improve on-farm adoption of new agricultural technologies.
According to the press release from HudsonAlpha, farmers face narrow profit margins and environmental concerns.
The TRIALS program helps pair growers with researchers and tech companies to help with field trials, agricultural health and economic uncertainties.
This program will even provide education, an internship and farmer consultations.
