It's been roughly a week since the Minnesota Timberwolves announced that Anthony Edwards would miss two weeks with a right hamstring strain. Edwards' absence, even in the short term, is huge for the Timberwolves, given everything the perennial All-Star does for Minnesota on both ends of the floor. They are, in case this wasn't extremely clear, built around their franchise player's superstar skillset.

On Monday, the Timberwolves and Edwards shared a promising update on the shooting guard's ongoing recovery.

In a news release shared on the Timberwolves' website, they revealed that Edwards had been cleared for contact. That's a fantastic sign of recovery for a player who is technically still pretty fresh off a hamstring injury. Of course, it does not mean Edwards is returning to game action earlier than expected. He will still miss Minnesota's Monday night road matchup against the Brooklyn Nets.

But being cleared for contact is one of Edwards' more essential steps in the rehabilitation process. It essentially means that Edwards can start practicing and ramping up again. He seems to be right on track toward the initial timeline the Timberwolves gave for his return, which is fantastic news.

How have the Timberwolves played without Edwards so far?

At the time of this writing, Minnesota is 1-2 without its best player. They suffered two home losses to the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers last week, and they beat the Charlotte Hornets on the road this past Saturday.
