DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - All schools in the Danville School District 118 were dismissed early Monday after someone called and threatened that there would be a school shooting.
Danville Community Consolidated School District No. 118 posted on Facebook that schools would start dismissing at 8:45 a.m.
This came after District 118 staff called Danville police at 8 a.m. to tell them an anonymous called had contacted the district office and said, "School shooting. 10 a.m.," before hanging up.
The district and Danville police school resource officers immediately started investigating the call. Schools entered a soft lockdown status.
Due to the seriousness of the threat, District 118 administration decided to cancel all school activities and send students home.
