A new report has detailed the progress made over the past six months on the construction of the first road bridge to connect Russia with North Korea.
Why It Matters
The project, which Russian state media has said will be nearly 3 miles long when completed, including access roads, is one of the initiatives that emerged from a comprehensive agreement signed by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the latter's visit to Pyongyang last year.
The agreement also elevated military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang to its highest level since the Cold War, followed just months later by North Korea's deployment of thousands of troops to join Russia in its war against Ukraine.
