Network Rail has issued an update after an Avanti train derailed in Cumbria on Monday morning.

The company has warned that there will be "no trains" running between Preston and Carlisle throughout tomorrow, Tuesday 4 November.

At around 6:10am on Monday Morning, November 3, the Avanti West Coast train to London Euston derailed close to Shap in Cumbria.

The train left Glasgow at 4.28am before it hit a "suspected landslide" at 80mph, which caused the front carriage to come off the tracks. View 2 Images

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) dispatched its crews to the scene with a 'major incident' declared. Four people suffered minor injuries, according to the ambulance service which assessed a total of 87 patients.
