LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A former Kentucky sheriff turned himself in to the Oldham County Detention Center on Saturday.

Former Trimble County Sheriff Charles Kelton, 53, is charged with one count of sexual abuse and one count of official misconduct.

The arrest warrant shows on Feb. 21, 2025, Kelton grabbed a woman's hips and pulled her against him even though she physically and verbally rejected him.

This happened in her office at the Trimble County Attorney's Office, while he was on duty and in his sheriff's uniform, according to the arrest warrant.

Kelton was released from jail that same day on a $5,000 surety bond, and placed on Home Incarceration, according to Oldham County Jailer Jeff Tindall.

He is expected back on court on Nov. 6, Tindall said.
