WASHINGTON — An emergency alert was activated on the University of Virginia's campus on Monday afternoon after reports of an attacker with a gun were issued. More than 90 minutes later, officers gave the "all clear" after finding no evidence of an attack or threat on or near UVA grounds.
Now, the investigation has shifted into false reporting.
According to posts from the UVA Police Division on X, police are at the Shannon Library investigating reports of an armed attacker on campus.
At 3:41 p.m., police said there is no evidence that an active attacker.
"Police are continuing to investigate at Shannon Library," UVA Police said on X. "At this time, there is no evidence of an Active Attacker. Continue to RUN-HIDE-FIGHT."
