CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — A Harrison Circuit judge on Monday handed down a prison term to a 32-year-old Huntington area man who pleaded guilty last month to felony burglary and destruction of property.
Judge Joseph F. Shaffer Jr. cited William Arthur Roush's lengthy criminal history, dating to 2012; that Roush gave one statement about his crimes at his plea hearing, but a different one to Deputy Chief Probation Officer Janis Leckenbush; and that Roush was on parole at the time he committed this crime.
Prosecutor Rachel Romano, who continues to handle courtroom work, asked for the sentence imposed, citing the same factors that Shaffer did and adding that she could have sought a three-strikes recidivist.
