After starting the year 7-3-1, the Emporia State women’s soccer team has gotten into a rut as the season winds down. This past weekend, they would face off against Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri with the hopes of getting back in the win column.

Coming into the matchup against Missouri Western, the Hornets had one win in their last four matches, and the offense has hit a cold streak as the season winds down. Those two trends continued as the Hornets would have a scoreless draw against the Griffons, and the match was close to becoming a loss.

The first half of the match saw the Griffons control the ball and generate a ton of shots, outshooting the Hornets 7-2 in the first half alone. Senior Mackenzie Goen kept the Hornets in the match with four first-half saves to keep the Griffon
