Since he jumped into the 2026 race for U.S. Senate last month, U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton has been making the argument that incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., is too old to keep doing the job.
But according to a new UMass Amherst/WCVB-TV poll , Moulton, 47, has some work to do to convince Bay State voters to send the veteran 79-year-old pol from Malden packing.
Markey leads Moulton, of Salem, 51%-28% in the poll of likely Democratic primary voters released Monday. Six percent support Alex Rikleen, a political newcomer making his first bid for office, while 14% said they were not sure or did not plan to vote.
The poll, conducted from Oct. 21 to Oct. 29, included the opinions of 800 adults from Massachusetts, 416 of whom were likely Democratic primary voters. That segment ha
