Several New Orleans restaurants and their chefs are celebrating after receiving one of the highest culinary achievements: a spot on the Michelin Guide.

The guide's inaugural selections around the U.S. South were released on Monday, honoring top restaurants in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.

Although the fanfare surrounding the Michelin Guide is largely centered on which fine dining restaurants receive the highly-coveted stars, another award category highlights restaurants where patrons can get high-quality meals at the best value.
