The Chattanooga Area Food Bank is working around the clock to meet growing demand as more families struggle to afford food. At its Foxwood location, the food bank serves between 3,500 and 4,000 households each month.
Despite ongoing challenges, the organization vows not to stop serving neighbors in need, even as federal SNAP funding delays continue. While President Trump has approved partial SNAP funding, most families may not see the assistance for several weeks.
CEO Melissa Blevins says the food bank’s 200 partner agencies across 20 counties are stepping up to meet demand.
“We want every pantry that is seeing an increase of demand to respond to that if they can,” Blevins said.
She adds that more food is being purchased to keep shelves stocked.
