Following the 55th Kerala State Film Awards announcement, jury chairperson Prakash Raj addressed questions about the repeated omission of acclaimed actor Mammootty from the National Awards in recent years. The actor commented on the broader issue of award recognition for artists like Mammootty, who received the Best Actor award in Kerala. However, he has not been similarly recognised at the national level.

Prakash Raj elaborated on his position, saying, "I don’t mind saying that the National Film Awards are compromised. I am so happy to be a jury chairperson in Kerala because when they called me, they said that we need an outsider who is experienced, and we will not poke our hands into it.
