Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers and Ocotillo District Councilmember Leandro Baldenegro invite the community to the Veteranos Park dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, honoring the courage, service, and sacrifice of veterans.

The park is next to the Glendale Community Center at 5401 W. Ocotillo Road.

This event will include the installation of three newly illuminated flagpoles and remarks from local dignitaries and Veterans’ representatives.

The military will recognize Glendale resident and U.S. Army veteran Matt Madrid, who served during the Vietnam War.

Though awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, Madrid was never formally received his medals. During the ceremony, he will finally be pinned with these long-overdue honors.
