A new poll shows surprising strength among Georgia Republicans for the Democratic U.S. senator seeking re-election next year.
"Oh, I'm an avid Republican," chuckled Lisa Woodward, who holds what could be called a classic Republican view about Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff.
"Way too liberal. Way too radical for us. Georgia's got to turn it around and get him out," she said in downtown Woodstock Friday.
An AJC poll shows Woodward's view of Ossoff prevails among Republicans.
But the poll also has a surprise: 20% of Republican voters said they "strongly approve" or "somewhat approve" of the Democrat's performance in the Senate.
Republican Gary Oldknow says he has grudging respect for the Democrat seeking re-election next year.
