A grieving local family is making a push to have Ontario’s reckless driving laws changed to include much stiffer consequences for those who break the rules.
On Monday, Sept. 29, 69 year-old James “Jim” Bolger was killed by a reckless driver on Highway 101 East in Porcupine. He was married for over 47 years, and had four children, and seven grandchildren.

Although the tragic incident occurred over a month ago, the investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the Ontario Provincial Police’s North East Region headquarters in North Bay. The family has been told they will receive an in-person update on Thursday of this week, and have been assured that charges will be laid.
