CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Chesapeake firefighters fought a fire in a grain silo early Monday morning.

The fire happened at Perdue Agribusiness at 501 Barnes Road, according to a press release from the Chesapeake Fire Department. It was reported just after 6 a.m.

Firefighters arrived on scene and found a fire deep within the silo. They applied water from both the top and bottom of the silo while plant personnel dumped the smoldering produce out of the silo.

Firefighters remained on scene to help cool the material and reduce temperatures inside the silo.

No injuries were reported, and the fire was determined to be accidental.
