BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — Some Blount County residents are questioning the leadership of one of the county's fire departments after officials said they recently received a multi-page letter from Blount County Fire Protection District employees outlining issues neighbors have with the department.

The complaints came about six months after the Tennessee Comptroller's Office reported money went missing from the operation. The fire department is the only one in the state that residents pay for services, according to the comptroller's office.

10News reached out to the district — leaving a message for Chief Doug McClanahan — but has yet to receive a response by the time of publication.
