A man was taken to the hospital Monday morning after a police shooting in Carney, according to Baltimore County police.
Authorities said the incident began around 8 a.m., when officers received reports of a man walking near Putty Hill Avenue and Avondale Road while carrying what appeared to be a weapon.
Officers later located the individual along White Marsh Boulevard between Interstate 695 and Walther Boulevard. Around 9:30 a.m., police shut down the area as they responded to the scene.
“As officers arrived, some members of the public were waving them down and pointing them toward the subject,” said Joy Stewart, a spokesperson for Baltimore County police.
Police said one officer fired his service weapon, striking the man. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment around 10:30 a.
