Hundreds of school cleaners will finally receive the pay, security and respect they deserve following decades of contracting chaos.

Even though the transition to government employment was announced earlier this year, with the focus on the Hunter and Central Coast, a new award has now been finalised to everyone’s satisfaction.

That means approximately 850 maintenance workers in both regions will begin employment for the NSW Department of Education in January.

It’s understood job offers to all Hunter and Central Coast cleaners are being sent out this week.
