A man was arrested and jailed Monday just hours after an early morning shooting at a Little Woods apartment left another man dead, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Joshua Badon, 32, was detained for questioning shortly after a suicide was reported in the 7000 block of Lawrence Road at around 3:30 a.m., police said. Officers responding to the call found a wounded man there, and detectives determined the death was a homicide before 5:30 a.m.

Police later obtained a warrant for Badon's arrest and he was booked into the Orleans Parish jail on a count of second-degree murder. Police did not say what evidence led to the arrest.

Police did not release any more information but said the investigation is ongoing.
