ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man with an extensive criminal history was back in court, for drug charges after his last trial date was delayed when he picked up new charges. Phillip Garcia has a criminal history, dating back to 1998.
One incident in 2024 ended with a SWAT stand-off. For this case, Garcia pleaded guilty to three charges of possession. That plea deal came with a maximum of five years in prison, but since that appearance in court, he was arrested again on new charges.
Garcia appeared in court from the hospital, where he was recieiving treatment, unrelated to the crimes. Judge Britt Baca sentenced him to four years behind bars, with five years of probation.
