GOLDEN MEADOW, La. —
Federal and state agencies are responding to a natural gas wellhead release that occurred on private land in South Lafourche.
Responders have deployed approximately 5,100 feet of hard booms and 106 bales of absorbent boom, with an additional 2,500 feet of boom en route to the site. Advertisement
These containment and recovery systems are being monitored and adjusted as needed.
The Lafourche Parish Fire District stated a light surface sheen has been observed in the immediate area of the release and there is no indication of significant environmental impact.
Crews are continuing to monitor the air and water in the area southeast of Golden Meadow.
According to the Lafourche Parish Fire District, there is currently no risk to the community of Golden Meadow.
