LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky's governor wants insurance companies to implement safeguards for federal workers so they don't lose coverage during the government shutdown.
“The federal shutdown is having real impacts across our country and our commonwealth,” Gov. Andy Beshear said. “As a state, we’re doing what we can to support the more than 23,000 Kentucky families who are experiencing a loss of income through no fault of their own.”
Insurance companies are being asked to do the following:
Deferment on cancellations: Any termination notions that happened on or after Oct. 1 should be postponed or withdrawn, on any in-force policy due to nonpayment of premiums.
Time-period extension for payments: Affected consumers will have extended payment times to pay premiums, co-payments, deductible
