Airports in Jamaica have reopened as recovery and cleanup efforts continue following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, so local organizations are mobilizing to help.
Oakwood University Church is working to raise money over the next two weeks to send barrels of supplies to the island, but needs community support to make it happen. Latham Lawrence, an elder at Oakwood University Church and facilitator of the university's food pantry, Heaven's Storehouse, said the church already has the supplies — now it just needs help covering the shipping costs.
"We need some money, if we can get some money to send these products that we see here - that would help us a lot," Lawrence said.
