CHICAGO (WGN) — A massive tree that towered over a home in Glenview has been chosen as the star holiday attraction in Chicago.
Every holiday season for the past 10 years, a giant Christmas tree has lit up Chicago's Millennium Park, donated each year by an area family.
This year's 68-foot Norwegian spruce belonged to Ryan and Jody Mason.
"Every time somebody comes to our house, they tell us this would make a great Chicago Christmas tree, so we’re really thrilled that it was chosen, and we get to live out its Christmas purpose," Jody Mason told WGN-TV.
Transported on a flatbed truck to a prep yard, come Wednesday, it will be put in its holiday home. Then, the decorations begin. The official tree lighting ceremony at Millennium Park will be held on Friday, Nov. 21.
