Pitt football added a surprise commitment to its 2026 recruiting class by flipping a player from an ACC rival. Fulfilling a path his last name set out for him, three-star outside linebacker Joshua Pittman announced on Monday evening he had indeed become a Pitt man by flipping his verbal pledge from Virginia Tech to the Panthers.

Pittman, who is in the midst of his senior season at King’s Fork High School in Suffolk, Va., visited Pitt on Oct. 25 and took in a 53-34 victory against NC State. He originally committed to the Hokies in February, but following coach Brent Pry’s dismissal earlier this season, Pittman kept his options open. NC State extended a new offer, and he visited South Florida, too, but ultimately settled on the Panthers.
