Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham "has not ruled out" calling a special session to funnel additional state funds toward food assistance, a spokesperson for the governor told The New Mexican Monday evening.
The Trump administration on Monday said that it plans to issue partial Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits and that it could take weeks for families to received the reduced benefits. That announcement came after two federal judges last week found suspending the anti-hunger program during the government shutdown was unlawful. The administration said there is only enough funding to pay around half of SNAP benefits.
