Blanca Vega watched through a surveillance camera as thieves ransacked her Airport Road bakery a couple of weeks ago — the fourth in a series of window-shattering robberies from which she’s received little relief.

The midnight break-ins have surged this year, she said, with her other Del Valle Panaderia location on Cerrillos Road being broken into three times. Vega has watched as different sets of thieves conduct three-minute robberies, avoiding the five-minute response times by police.

“Those people know how to act very quickly to beat the police,” she said in Spanish. “They have everything calculated.”
