FARGO — The Fargo Public Library will increase the charge for nonresidential library cards and limit some of its electronic services amid budget cuts.

Patrons who don’t live in Fargo will pay an annual fee of $60 for their library card, starting Jan. 1 or when their account expires, according to a news release issued Monday, Nov. 3. Up from $20, the charge is meant to help “provide a level of financial equality for Fargo residents whose taxes fund library operations and collections,” the release said.

The change in policy will not impact customers who have valid library cards for the West Fargo Public Library and the Lake Agassiz Regional Library in Moorhead, as metro-area libraries have an agreement that lets residents from the three major cities borrow books from the libraries, the r
