CHEYENNE — Local officials say improving infrastructure, protecting rural landscapes and the environment, and spurring economic growth are keys to a sustainable future.

As part of a sustainability initiative, the city of Cheyenne received a $1 million Climate Pollution Reduction Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to put together its Prospering Together Plan, which targets environmental challenges in Cheyenne.

City officials outsourced to Lotus Engineering and Sustainability, a consulting firm based in Denver, to conduct studies and come up with goals regarding how to make Cheyenne more sustainable.

During a work session Friday afternoon, members of the Cheyenne City Council heard updates and initiatives that are part of the plan.
