DETROIT, MI — Waymo’s self-driving cars are coming soon to the Motor City.
The fully autonomous ride-hailing service announced Monday, Nov. 3 , that Detroit will become the company’s first Midwest market.
Those visiting and living in Detroit will soon see Waymo vehicles driving around with people behind the wheel, prior to riders being served, the company announced.
“We’re proud of our roots in Metro Detroit, including in Novi, where we’ve had an engineering team for many years,” the announcement states. “We’ve also regularly tested in Detroit during winter weather to develop our capabilities in snow and ice.
