ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI — U.S. 131 South will remain closed from 100th Street to 142nd Street until further notice.
A piece of heavy machinery being hauled by a southbound semi trailer struck the overpass at 146th Avenue, shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, a news release from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office states.
There were no injuries to anyone involved but the highway is now closed due to the bridge being damaged, deputies said.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by Allegan County Central Dispatch, Michigan State Police, Dorr Fire Department and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
MDOT was on scene to asses the damage to the bridge, the sheriff’s office reports.
