CINCINNATI, Ohio — The bye week comes at a good time for the Bengals, who have lost two consecutive home games, with the most recent defeat coming in part due to a fourth-quarter defensive collapse.

Sunday against the Bears, the Bengals blew a lead in the final minute on a 58-yard touchdown pass from Caleb Williams to Colston Loveland and lost, 47-42 .

The defensive numbers are ugly. The film is worse. Yet in Bengals coach Zac Taylor’s Monday press conference, he told reporters that he will not fire defensive coordinator Al Golden or any other member of his defensive coaching staff during the bye.

“No, I believe in these guys. Absolutely,” Taylor told reporters. “And so we’ll continue to work through it and find solutions.”
