Chennai: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated a comprehensive Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu, a process that will require every existing voter to re-enroll to retain their name on the list. The exercise, which began today, involves 77,000 officials conducting a door-to-door verification across the state.
The announcement was formally made to the Madras High Court, outlining a detailed schedule that will culminate in the publication of a final voter list on February 7, 2026.
