URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) -- The Trump Administration said the government will be partially funding this month's SNAP benefits after federal judges ruled it needs to use reserve funds. Now, people in Central Illinois are trying to deal with the uncertainty while some food bank leaders say their lines are getting longer.
The Eastern Illinois Foodbank said it's doing all it can to support the local food pantries in its network, stretching between 21 counties and supporting more than 143,000 people.
Sophie Ellis, Marketing and Communications Manager for the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, said they have enough food to give out to people as they wait for benefits. They don't anticipate running out, but the confusion over SNAP is only making services like the foodbank more important.
