SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — On Monday State Representative Steven Jackson sent a formal request to Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and Louisiana State Police Superintendent Colonel Robert Hodges asking for a specialized state police presence in downtown Shreveport on weekend evenings.
The request comes on the heels of several brawls breaking out in downtown Shreveport in the overnight hours of November 1. Videos of the brawls have been circulated thousands of times on social media.
"My request focuses on a coordinated and proactive law enforcement presence. A strategy in the downtown area on Fridays and Saturdays when we see a critical mass of people," said Jackson.
