ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- November 14 marks one year since a fire started at an historic Albany church and burnt it to the ground. The over 140-year-old Second Avenue church may now be a thing of the past.
“You never stop ministry. Sometimes things are delayed but not denied,” said Bishop Avery Comithier.
He said in the 12 months since a space heater sparked the devastating fire that destroyed the Elijah Missionary Baptist Church -- formerly the German Roman Catholic Church, Our Lady Help of Christians -- he and his faith have seen many challenges.
“The actual church is a complete loss?” asked NEWS10 reporter James De La Fuente.
