CAMDENTON, Mo. (KY3) - A multi-year MoDOT project kicked off this week in Camdenton as crews began widening Highway 54 from three lanes to five lanes through the heart of the city.
MoDOT is spending almost $7 million and two years of work to transform Highway 54 from Bumper Hill Road to Business Route 5 from a three-lane highway to five lanes.
During the first phase of construction, which is expected to continue through spring 2026, one lane in each direction will remain open.
Denise Dill, who works at Fitz Fishing, said there is never a lull in traffic through the area.
“The traffic is pretty much nonstop through here. Basically, they’re going headed towards Macks Creek and that area,” Dill said.
