CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — This month, hundreds of thousands of families in our region will only get half of the normal SNAP benefits they normally receive.

Trump Administration officials said they've provided 50 percent benefits, after two judges issued rulings requiring the food aid program to continue to run during the government shutdown.

It's a scary feeling not knowing if you'll be able to put food on your table for the next few weeks or months. That's the reality for many North Carolinians right now, including people in Cabarrus County. A group of them met on Monday afternoon to share their concerns over the partial funding of SNAP benefits.

"It's just nerve-wracking that I'm not sure where the next meal can come from for the next few months," said Denecia Polite,
