NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Tens of millions of food stamp recipients will now get partial funding across the New York region for November after the Trump administration was ordered by a federal court to release some funds.
On Monday, Attorney General Letitia James says food pantry lines across New York are growing longer by the day, as SNAP recipients wait for their benefits to restart.
She spent Monday evening serving meals at a Brooklyn church, meeting families who depend on SNAP benefits.
“The problem has gotten worse as a result of the cuts to SNAP,” said James.
Just days ago, James and 24 other states sued the U.S. Department of Agriculture, accusing it of unlawfully halting benefits during the government shutdown. A judge has now ordered partial funding, meaning recipients will get only
