CHAPEL HILL — UNC basketball tipped off its season with a 94-54 win against Central Arkansas on Nov. 3 at the Smith Center.

The Tar Heels (1-0) had five players finish in double figures, led by freshman Caleb Wilson (22 points). UNC ballooned its advantage out to 40 points with an impressive outing from top to bottom on the stat sheet against the Bears (0-1).

UNC had 46 points in the paint, a 26-3 advantage in fast-break points, and a plus-15 margin in the rebounding battle with 11 newcomers to start head coach Hubert Davis’ fifth season. The Heels led 51-23 at halftime before coasting with a 12-point difference in the second half.

The 40-point margin in a season opener was UNC's largest since a 115-75 victory over Howard in 1975. No Central Arkansas player reached double-digit points.
