RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Nineteen Triangle restaurants received Michelin recognition and business is expected to pick up at the locations in the coming days.

The state tourism department, Visit North Carolina, says studies have shown places could see a double-digit sales increase as soon as they receive Michelin recognition.

Dozens of people packed into Prime Barbecue when the beloved Knightdale BBQ joint earned the guide's nod of approval.

"This is absolutely insane. We are so thankful," said Prime Barbecue Manager Marcus Shealy.

For the first time, the American South is being included in the prestigious guide.

"I never thought it was possible that Michelin would even come to the Southeast," said Raleigh restaurateur Chef Scott Crawford. "I sort of gave up the dream for Michelin star
