KINDER, La. — The Coushatta Tribe hosted its annual Koasati Heritage Day, a celebration filled with dancing, storytelling, and traditional crafts aimed at keeping tribal customs alive and sharing them with the broader community.

The event brought together tribal members and visitors to experience the Koasati-Coushatta way of life through cultural demonstrations, handmade art, and food. Organizers said the day was about more than celebration, it was about education.

“It’s nice to be able to do and carry on the tradition,” said tribal member and basket maker Landon Daigle.
