LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

The Kentucky Humane Society is reopening its Pet Food Bank to help animal owners who may be struggling financially.

Through the program, KHS is offering one free bag of dog or cat food per household each month.

“We’re so grateful for this opportunity to lend a helping paw,” said Shelby Schulz, pet retention services manager at KHS. “We know the best place for animals is in a safe home with people who love them, and we never want access to food to stand in the way of that.”

On top of food assistance, KHS also provides low-cost veterinary care through its CARE-a-van and S.N.I.P. clinics.

Those in need of food assistance can fill out a request form online or call 502-509-4738.
